The Stratford Festival's 2009 production of Phèdre transferred to American Conservatory Theatre in January 2010. The Stratford set, designed for the long narrow thrust stage at the Tom Patterson Theatre, had to be reconsidered as the Geary Theatre in San Francisco in a Broadway-style proscenium house.

Responding to David Lang's musical score for the production which feature a subtle "heartbeat" rhythm – passion in the blood – Christina designed the A.C.T. set around a metaphor of blood vessels and giant nerve bundles. The 25-foot columns are welded together from furnace flue pipes.
